Enrique holds a bachelor’s degree in Animal Sciences from Auburn University with a research background in livestock production. He is currently a student in the dual-degree program pursuing both a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine and a PhD in Epidemiology at Colorado State University. His goal is to contribute an applied interpretation of statistical analyses and help translate research into practical livestock management techniques. He is especially interested in understanding the differences between metagenomic analysis of microbial communities compared to results obtained from traditional techniques. Since metagenomic analysis techniques are rapidly developed and employed, Enrique and the MEG team are involved in assessing the validity of these new techniques while identifying methods to improve sample collection, genomic DNA extraction, sequencing and bioinformatic analysis.
