Maggie is currently a Ph.D. student in the Department of Animal Science at Colorado State University. Her research focuses on using emerging technologies to improve public health by reducing foodborne pathogens in meat. She does this through focusing on shotgun metagenomic and 16S analysis of food animal production systems. In these studies, she has focused on changes to the microbiome and resistome as a result of common management practices in livestock.
